Look what I can do

These days Rowan is all about standing up in his crib and attempting to climb out. The other night I checked in on him before I went to sleep and this is what he was up to! He was being so quiet so I assumed I'd find a sleeping little baby -was I wrong! He also now likes to open the drawers in his changing table and toss out his clothes. I really get a kick out of him!
The rate at which babies grow is incredible. We moved the legs up on his exersaucer about a month ago and his toes were just barely brushing the bottom. Tonight we noticed that his feet are almost flush with the bottom.
Have a good weekend everyone!

Shout out to Kara....

Kara is the first person to leave a comment on Rowan's blog! Keep them coming!

Ridin' Dirty

The little turkey is now over 20lbs (20lbs 3oz to be exact)! We decided to switch him from the car carrier to this sweet "la-z-boy". We're hoping that he'll be more comfortable in this seat, therefore making longer trips more enjoyable for all of us. When Rowan turns one, then we can switch it from rare-facing to forward-facing.

We're looking forward to the weekend. Jason and Bethany have invited us to go swimming at their place in b-more. The weather looks good so far and his swimming trunks can't wait to be used. We'll keep you posted!

Happy Birthday Ben!

Can you guess how old he is today? Ben's bowling birthday party was on Saturday and everyone seemed to have a great time. All the cousins were there: Tyler, Jake, Charlie, Cole, Rowan and Little Will.
It was a busy weekend in Pittsburgh. Besides Ben's birthday party on Saturday, Gracie had a party for her first Birthday. It was great to see everyone. The weather was beautiful all weekend long. Sunday we walked the dogs at North Park and then met Lisa, Mike and the rest of the Wolf clan at the Yacht Club to grab a bite to eat. We saw Ben's paps boat and lots of other boats too. Rowan had a great time - even staying up way past his bedtime!
Happy Birthday Ben!

Look who's walking....

ok...he's using the walker, but still! It's like it happened over night. Sunday we were walking around the park with him and then on Monday Cristina told me he was walking around the house all day. I couldn't wait to see him do his thing when he woke up yesterday! He looks so cute and he's pretty steady. It looks like he's cutting the grass!
The gates are up and my running shoes are ready. Here we go.....those months of him staying in one place are long over!

Daddy don't spoil my birthday party theme!

We had a lovely weekend with Rowan. A couple trips to the swings, a cookout, and lots of birthday talk! We came up with a great theme for Rowan Matthew's first birthday party - but we're keeping it under wraps for now. We have a lot to celebrate this year, considering he only had 4 minutes to celebrate last year.

Jason and I watched a really good movie this weekend. Waitress. We highly recommend it.

Ok, off to work on party plans and to watch the new season of the Bachelorette!

My first Mother's day weekend!

Jason, Rowan, and I traveled to Pittsburgh to celebrate my first Mother's day weekend with my family. My mom hosted a wonderful dinner for all of us at her house Saturday evening. For those of you who don't know, my mom is grandmother to 6 grandsons all under the age of 5!
Ben is the oldest grandson - he will be 5 in a few weeks. Ben loves soccer, bowling and 'the claw' game that you can find in most grocery stores or malls. He practically wins every time! Ben is very special to me because he is my very first nephew.
Tyler is 3 1/2. He was born on Christmas Eve. Tyler is very sweet and loves firetrucks. I kept thinking someone's cell phone was ringing, but it was Tyler imitating a fire siren!
Charlie is 2 1/2. Don't let his sweet looks fool you. This one is mischievous!! Charlie is very loving and has the cutest little voice.
Jake is 1 1/2. He has the blondest hair and brightest eyes of all the boys. He also has the funniest laugh! This boy is solid - I think he'll at least play college football. We may even see him in black and gold someday!
Rowan is next in line at 10 months. Rowan is still alittle to small to play with the big boys, but they were all very sweet to him. Rowan is my moms only grandson that has brown hair and eyes.
Baby Cole is the newest Lopinto at 8 weeks. He looks like big brother Tyler. He's a good baby. I didn't hear him make a peep!
All the boys played so well together - it was a real joy to watch them. We had a great time visiting with everyone and look forward to Ben's bowling party in a few weeks.
Jason and Rowan made my first Mother's day really special. Rowan made me a card and his handwriting and is coming along well! Jason gave me flowers, a beautiful card and a spa package. Tonight I came home to delicious dinner of cacciatora chicken that Jason prepared. What a treat!
We also received wonderful news today that Cristina, our nanny, is expecting! She's very early on, but said that being around Rowan made her crave a baby. I hope it's a boy -they're the best!

On the up swing

It's been a rough couple of days for Rowan.
When I got home from work on Friday, Rowan had a low grade temperature. He didn't sleep that well that night, but Saturday he seemed OK for the most part. We figured it was just a little cold. Saturday night into Sunday morning was the worst night we've ever had with him. He was so uncomfortable, had a temperature of 102.6 and we just couldn't seem to console him. Jason and I really were concerned. We called the Pediatrician in the middle of the night and she suggested things we were already doing: the humidifier, lukewarm bath and saline nasal spray. On Sunday, we was able to take two 2 hour naps, but just didn't seem himself. Then we thought we were out of the woods -Sunday night he slept from 7:30pm until 8:30am on Monday morning and his temperature disappeared. Last night was another bad night and I thought I'd better take him to the Pediatrician's today to rule out an ear infection, even tough he hadn't been tugging on his ears.
It ends up that Rowan had bilateral wax impaction and the right ear had puss inbetween the wax and the eardrum. It's pretty much a hot, bulbous ear. Poor guy had to be held down by 2 doctors and myself to get his ears cleaned out. I was amazed at what they pulled out of his ears and his strength to wiggle out of our holds!
He was exhausted and fell asleep once we left the office. I filled the prescriptions for Amoxicilin and ear drops and gave them to him immediately when he woke up. Then he napped again for an hour and a half. He was pretty pleasant when he woke up, so I thought we'd take a stroll to the park and visit the swings! As you can see he missed the swings.....he laughed and laughed and I felt such relief! After another lukewarm bath and him taking all his meds, Rowan is in Snugglestown right now. I hope he gets a great night's sleep -he needs it!

Look who's 10 months old today!

Rowan is 10 months old today!! I just can't believe it. It's been so much fun to see him progress into a toddler. He now gets up on all fours to crawl and rock along. He is also babbling like crazy! He loves it when Daddy makes him fly like Superman around the house, it makes him giggle like nothing else.
This weekend will be his first time in a swimming pool -we'll keep you posted!!
