I thought Pittsburgh Pirate Hats were just for gangsters
They say you learn something new everyday and I sure did. A package arrived in the mail on Friday and I anxiously opened it expecting to find the new crocs that I ordered for Rowan and Morgan. Instead I found this Pirate hat that Jason ordered. Now Jason has always been a Pirate fan and I always gave him slack for rooting for such a losing team. It all changes a few years ago when he finally gave up (So I thought) on them and ordered a Detroit Tigers hat. I should have known that he would go back to the bucs when after 18 consecutive losing seasons they finally are having a winning one. But seriously, I thought only thugs and people that have street cred(it) wear Pirate Hats not because they actually like the team....anyone with me on this?

Simple Summer Pleasures
With Jason in Germany this week I was a bit nervous to have both kids on my own 24/7 especially with Morgan not sleeping through the night yet. However it has turned out to be a week of simple summer pleasures. I pushed the kids on the trail around the lake every morning stopping to feed the ducks, watch the blue herring fly or check out the turtles sunbathing. Most days we played on the playground afterwards and then headed to the pool for picnic lunches. Today was a bit cooler and overcast and I was afraid that Morgan would be too cool to be in the water for an extended amount of time. Instead Rowan suggested I help him climb some trees and look for bird nests around the yard. What fun we had and who knew how meaningful this week really would be for me and hopefully for them too!

Growing up way to fast
Here is a conversation I had with Rowan today while he was strolling his new backpack suitcase around the house.
Rowan: "Bye Mama, I'll call you when I get there."
Me: "Okay, BTW where are you going?"
Rowan: "I'm off to college with my friends."
Me: "What?? Where are you going to college?"
Rowan: "Somewhere in Spain - Don't worry, I'll be careful."
Me: "Well, can I go with you?"
Rowan: "Sure... just let me check with my friends first."
After this I started panicking about how many years I have left with him before he really does go off to college. Good thing that George Mason University is literally right around the block from our new house - go Patriots!

First time in a swing
How cute is Morgan!! We have been taking the kids to the park in the evenings and Jason suggested I put her in the swing. I think she liked it...and look at how long those legs are - Thanks Aunt Sara!!
Morgan had her 6 month check last week and passed with flying colors! She weighs 16.5lbs (51%) and is 26.5 inches long (75%). She is a healthy, happy baby girl and I want to freeze her at this age because she is just so precious. One thing I am looking forward to is her hair growing longer because I just bought a bunch of hair bows and accessories that I can't wait to use! We love you Morgan so much - keep growing girl!!

Rowan's Birthday Morning!
It's Rowan's Big Day - he turns 4 today! We started the morning off with a scavenger hunt for his presents. Each present was attached to balloons to make it easier for him to find. Among his gifts were Race Team Mater and Holly Shiftwell from the new movie Cars 2! Happy Birthday Rowan! We love you to the moon and back + 10 puppies - that's what he says to Jason and I every night when he goes to sleep:)
